Does everyone still read bound books or have some of you switched to Kindle, Nook or some other reader?
What's your preference?
If you like a reader best, which of the options do you prefer?

Paper! I still love the smell of books and newspapers and the sound of the page turning.

I read before going to sleep..... and sometimes doze off with the book on my chest. I dont think it would be as good with kindle.

I use an iPad and sometimes read while waiting for ... whatever. My daughter has a Nook and I like it a lot.
Also, when we travel, we often listen to audio books. I usually prefer the written word ... most often paperbacks so I don't need to be so careful not to fold or mutilate .. but now and then, if the reader is really good, audio can fill the need.
The only time I think about taking a pass on Barnes and Noble is when I run out of room on the shelves and have to start filling up yet another bin.
I believe, if someone gave us an expensive new home but in order to claim it we had to agree to move in and bring all our books ... I might pass.

I read anything and everything....usually in paperback and... when I'm finished we pass it on.
Like you jencin...I have a lot of books but only usually keep the hard backs and reference books or we wouldnt have anywhere to keep them.
Love serious discussion and the net....sometimes I go off looking for stuff in reply to a post.... and get so absorbed I don't come back. ;D

Sometimes I stick to my own site for days because I know there will be actual discussions going on. Now and then, I'll get lucky and find another good board, like this one, with things of interest. I love to read but most of the time, nothing equals interaction. I often pass my books along, and I also give hard cover or trade paperback books I've read and enjoyed for gifts. There was a time, almost everyone I knew owned a copy of Time and Again (Jack Finney) because I couldn't imagine people out there who hadn't read it.

Good for you. Must be great to have the time to 'make time' for those lovely things.

What is the most strangest or bizzare thing you've ever read, Spell?

50 Shades of Grey (a? .. whatever)
One of the most poorly written books I've ever tried to read. Got about 55 pages in and gave up. Not little typos but terrible sentence structure and glaring grammar mistakes. Not to mention all the hoop-la about the same kind of kinky sex that's been in print for years .. and much better done.
Are the people who get all excited about this book and the spin-offs the dumb-downs we've been hearing about?

How are you going to read a kindle found in a clay pot 1000 years from now?

Real books, definitely. I love books. I keep certain collections and favourites. Otherwise, I try to recycle. I bring them to the hospital for the patients, and they're always appreciated when I leave a stack at laundromats. People pick them up to kill some time, get into the story and take them home.

Electronic must be the way to go--After all paper comes from trees and in any event trees are much nicer to look at ,if we carry on the way we are there will not be any trees left----so in a thousand years time you may well find a clay pot, complete with a kindle inside

Sorry, I don't want a battery-operated book. Sometimes I'm at the beach all day. Sometimes there are power failures. Without a working battery, a kindle is just a useless piece of plastic.
