Fish pulls out vs. Federer at US Open
American Mardy Fish has pulled out of his fourth-round match against Roger Federer at the U.S. Open because of ''health reasons.''
Tournament officials did not immediately provide further details Monday on Fish's ailment. The 30-year-old missed about two months this season because of an accelerated heartbeat and had a medical procedure in May.
Mark Knowles, who has been coaching Fish this year while still continuing to play doubles told FOXSports.com, "I can't go into details but let's say you don't pull out of a Labor Day match on Arthur Ashe against Roger Federer for nothing. It's a real shame -- Mardy has been playing great and had a really good win against Gilles Simon in the last round."
His third-round match against Gilles Simon went five sets, lasting more than 3 hours and ending after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Afterward, the 23rd-seeded Fish did not appear at a news conference. Tournament officials said he was getting treatment, but didn't give any specifics.
The top-ranked Federer reaches his 34th consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal.

Nice to see the Tennis really on the move now, just watching the quarter finals of the WTA in Doha, this match up, the last of the four to play are Agnes Radwanska ~Poland~ & Caroline Wozniaki ~ Denmark ~ The three other players through to the Semis are Azarenka ~ Sharapova~ S Williams ~ Serena having regained the number one world ranking. As from Monday next, the WTA Ladies are playing in Dubai, and 17 of the worlds top 20 players will be taking part...that's quite a record...a good watch...I think..

Good to see you here again!
I sure wish I could get all the smaller tennis events televised here. I guess if I paid for the tennis channel I could but . . .
You'll just have to keep me updated! ;D

Hi Sun, Quite a ding dong second set with the last two girls, taking it right to the wire, but Radwanska took it at the end, and now faces Serena today...excellent match.. Two of the biggest screamers go on Court today for the Semis Sharapova v Azarenka, earplugs at the ready...should be a good match though... Let's hope Azarenka, doesn't pull any stunts like she did playing Radwanska, so say feining an ankle injury, and getting a much questioned medical time out...

I hope Radwanska takes it! I'm tired of Serena.
LOL at the screamers. You're so right though. Those two could scream the pants off someone. I usually just mute the TV if I watch either of them but together . . . OY! Hopefully it'll be a good match. Frankly, I don't care which of them wins.

Here are the results of The WTA in Doha Semi Finals.... Azarenka beat Radwanska in 2 straight sets...shame, Agi, always plays to the hilt and though she has many titles under her belt, just cannot get past Azarenka. I think she will be one of those players, that will have a terrific career, but never reaching number 1 or winning a Grand Slam...always the Bridesmaid Azarenka now goes forward to the Final Sunday. Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova, quite comprehensively in 2 sets...making it 11 straight wins over Maria. So it's an Azarenka ~ Williams Final, and it will be a good one, but Azarenka falls a bit short against Williams power....still we'll see.... I expect I'll have to bring my own popcorn again lol...

Should be an interesting match. I'm thinking Williams will take it.
I agree about Agi. She's a great player, just can't seem to get past the other top players.

Ok here we go.... Almost a re match of the US Open, Azarenka took the first set on a 7-5 tie break Williams fought back, in the second set, though there were loads of errors from Azarenka, no big deal for Williams... Third and Final set, was a blinder, and for a change, I was willing Azarenka to win, because she deserved it the most I think.... The result of the US open was reversed, and Azarenka won, so she retained her crown from last year... Love the Trophy at Doha it's a golden Falcon... Serena still becomes World Number 1 on Monday, I wonder how long she'll hold on to it though... The Dubai Tournament starts Monday....so I've got my seat booked for the week already...

I'll be happy when the Williams sisters retire from singles competition. I know what you mean, but they do fill the Stadiums, and without the crowd pullers we won't get the Televised matches, and the Tournament Hosts won't get the Sponsors...so it's swings and roundabouts...

Rafa Nadal #
A little snippet I picked up on the News....
Sao Paulo: The last time Rafael Nadal won in Brazil, it was at the very start of the most dominant clay-court career tennis has ever seen.
Eight years later, Nadal hopes his second title in Sao Paulo will mark the restart.
Nadal beat David Nalbandian 6-2, 6-3 in the final of the Brazil Open on Sunday, his first trophy since returning from a seven-month layoff to treat his left knee.

Dubai First Round Ivanovic won in 2 straight sets. Cirstea beat Sloane Stevens in 3 Sets....shame that for Sloane, first casualty of the Tournament. Bartoli beat Zacopalvac in three hard fought sets, but Marion is a real fighter for sure. Hsiah stomped through in 2 sets...don't know this player at all.. Laura Robson is still playing Putintseva a set all at the moment...Never seen Putintseva play before, but she's like a little pocket rocket, and very strong....results on that one later...

WTA Dubai Quarter Final results
Errani bt Petrova 3 good sets.
Vinci bt Stosur...2 sets...poor old Sam, not doing so good this season so far.
Kvitova bt A Radwanska... 2 sets Petra was too strong for Agi..
Wozniacki bt Bartoli in three hard fought sets....Marion did well to get so far, despite a shoulder injury...such a fighter.
Errani plays her Doubles Team mate in the Semis, Roberta Vinci..
Kvitova plays Wozniaki...should be Kvitovas match, just depends on which Kvitova turns up...
* Warning on the cards for Wozniacki's Father for coaching, and bartoli kept a real good eye on him, as did Asderacki the Umpire...apparently he was doing something similar in Quatar...not good..
