I see that the F.B.I. have heightened the terror alert for the 9-11 anniversary
They do that every year as a precautionary measure. Hopefully, nothing will happen.

I do not see the point in them crashing into Ground Zero, I imagine they will wait.

I was on the MSN boards for a long time. Early on, it was like the wild west. No rules, no moderators or administrators. There had to be a massive amount of reports before someone would be banned and then they just changed their name and were back at it. But I learned how to deal with trolls. They don't like to hear about themselves. When I did a biography of them, it must have hit the mark because they usually left Dodge. Then came the administrators. I have no idea how one becomes an administrator but some of them seemed to let their new found power go to their heads. They created their own set of rules in addition to the board rules. I challenged some of them to ban me. They didn't but one of their group made a habit of banning Peg who never offended anyone. When they did that, I gave up on them for most part. Sometimes I think they gave an administrator job to one of the trolls. MSN boards started it's down hill slide when they closed an entertainment board and all of the zit pickers who used the place as a unrestricted titillating pre-masturbation foreplay event from their work computers, invaded the more sensible boards and wouldn't leave. We moved and they followed. Eventually, they acquired active overzealous administrators that took all the fun out of a discussion. And people left until there were none. Sometimes I wonder if we were all a lab test for someone writing a doctoral thesis on cyber anarchy and it's social evolution. The process is interesting to say the least and I wonder if left completely free or if a large portion of regular posters could ban the trolls forever, it would settle into a more democratic reasonable society.

There were plenty of boards and everyone found their little niche. If the entertainment boards were closed what did they expect to happen?....people have to go somewhere they are not going to suddenly stop using the net. I personally like a bit of serious discussion and the boards that had previously been a good place to enjoy could no longer sustain anything of interest for me.
I don't care about trolling, or tiresome he said/she said posts... just wanted to log in and bounce ideas of reasonable posters over current issues....and we couldn't be accommodated so ended up tucked away on the politics boards.....and for a while there it was OK.
There have been many articles written on the heirarchies of a message board and how people generate their kudos. MSN suffered because many posters had multiple accounts and you would find yourself in a discussion with many factions of the same poster... who would agree with himself to create an unfair advantage. At least on proboards people cannot do this and those who had previously used this ploy have been brought down to earth.

Yep here too. I'm tired of the nonsense. I see Beags banned POD and I'm not up to the argument of what's fair and what isn't with someone whose main intent was to do it in the first place . . . no matter what. Can I post an unbiased opinion on this subject? I don't know either of the people involved so I'm in a position of neutrality. Forever, if you've appointed a Moderator who always intended to ban someone, then surely the wrong person has been given the position. Re-instate the banned person, and demote the Moderator. Clearly power in the wrong hands is likely to cause further problems down the line somewhere, and your friends don't want to lose you so you need to act and act fast. I'm a Moderator on Bebe's board and I have never banned anyone, although I was wrongly accused of doing so. I wouldn't dream of banning anyone without discussing it with Bebe and at least one other Moderator first. It seems the right and proper course of action to me, if the situation appears to be heading in the direction of a ban. I hope you won't be offended by my intrusion, but it's obvious that your departure wouldn't be welcomed by any of your friends on here. Miss Who can vouch for me ,I hope, if you're unsure of me. IT'S YOUR PROBOARD! RUN IT YOUR WAY!

I think that particular issue has blown over now jonbel...POD does post on this site with the knowledge of Admin... but if he keeps to the CoC then its allowed.
What people don't realise is that we have to keep within the TOS of proboards or they will complain.
It isn't personal....as long as the posters stay within it.... they will be alright.
Its not much fun being a Mod but Sunshine does OK....This is a happy little board.

Hi maggie I think its all going to go as well. MSN are have been losing money since 2006 and they have tightened their operations. Its crazy since online ads have exploded onto the internet there is a fortune to be made.. and Google and Yahoo are doing just fine. Still it is how it is... and the message boards were high maintenance or they got into a mess. Many of us are holed up on a pro-board and some are linked so there is a few places to visit. Its a different format but easy when you get the hang of it....and there are some familiar names about. As they say in the US when life deals you lemons...make lemonade.

mm watcha spell, i think it was all designed to go over a matter of yrs to be honest all over, after the trouble on the original chat rooms etc.
the bit i dont get to be honest is why its made so hard to find the other boards, those not to savvy with the internet lose out so then do the suppliers and businesses advertising ,like you say a fortune to be made really, just some proper monitoring
that doesn't mean excessive we all need a little light fun no harm meant

Its a shame they couldn't just leave a board or two for people to stay in touch duffs. A lot of the UK posters got lost and some chose to stop posting...There are some on here and the US posters are quite interesting.. perhaps some others will find us I'm not sure tbh. I have tried and tried to get on msn... but just cant seem to get round the ban.

Even if we could have our place back, we would get the usual trolls and mischief makers on the loose At least here and Icy's board there is no trouble
