Have recently watched the first two series' on Blu Ray and series three is due out at the end of March. It is a violent, sexual and quite dark saga full of scheming pretenders to the throne...battles, magic and fantasy but Quite appealling non-the-less. A sort of soap opera with swords. I hope HBO don't run out of money and cut it off without a suitable conclusion though Oddly we can't see it in the UK.....despite from the title graphics it looking a bit like the UK in the dark ages.

I have read the seven volumes (books) of the saga of the Game of Thrones, still waiting for any follow on, there doesn't appear to be any endings. The last volume was all about Rob Stark the new king of the North intrigues go on and on. Not able to watch any film made for the telly yet in the UK.

I don't think there is a film but the first two series' are 10 hours each Jack I picked it up because I quite like Sean Bean and a few of the other actors......once you have seen a few you get hooked, bit like a guilty secret. Rob Stark is still wading into battle at the moment Its very violent though...and perhaps a bit too much for the UK market Good CGI of the "white walkers" though at the end of series two Just wish they would let us watch it

I've not heard of it Spell but would love to watch it. Sounds like what I am interested in. Is it a bit like the Lords of the Ring?

Hi Spell, if you like Sean Bean, I suppose you have watched all the Sharpe stories on TV, Bernard Cornwell wrote the stories of Richard Sharpe, I have ready every book and watched every episode of Sharpe on the TV, there is about 21 books in all, Game of Thrones has a fair way to go to match the Sharpe stories. Sean Bean played Richard Sharpe, Bernard Cornwell wrote some very interesting stories, one was about two brothers fighting in the American civil war, they fought on opposite sides, there is four books to that story.

Yes... but with lots of bonking and people getting their heads cut off Pity they couldn't do a sanitised version for our more delicate tastes. Yes.. we loved to watch Sharpe....Husband was really in to the Napoleonic wars. Sean Bean was great....... He was Boromir in the Lord of the Rings as well...Quite good in horse-riding, sword weilding things. The American civil war was a very interesting period but I haven't seen any good TV series' about it.

Oooooh, I do have a weak stomach. May not be able to take all that bloodshed. I much prefer the blood and thunder novels, especially when they are part true and part fiction. Much better than having to read books like Fifty Shades of Grey, along with A Game of Thrones, I have read numerous novels about Ghengis Khan, Roman Emperors and generals, Alexander the Great, and what I believe the greatest of all, Boudicca Queen of the Icini.

New season starting April 14th!! Can't wait! Never seen it, but my daughter loves it! I just don't think it would be my 'cup of tea.' 'The Good Doctor' starts up again tonight, so I am looking forward to that! I haven't missed an episode!

I was desperate for something to watch and DS kept telling me about this. So, I tuned in and that was it. LOVE IT.
