WOW!!!....Something happened to Montoya.....His car swerved hard right....And ran into a jet dryer.
Holy Crap! that is an incredible fire. There's no way that didn't do massive damage to the track surface. I'd bet money that Dave Blaney just won his first race. Just WOW!

There's no way that didn't do massive damage to the track surface. I hope they can restart the race....But you might be correct....If the track is damaged...The race will be over.

A joke I saw on twitter last night
How many Nascar drivers does it take to blow up a jet dryer?
Just Juan!

The #48 team is having their appeal today on the penalty from Daytona. It's being called "OccupyNascar" by the reporters that have been camped outside Nascar headquarters since 8 am.
Mr Big Bossman, Rick Hendrick is there to testify. Along with Cheating Chad Knaus & 5 time Jimmie Johnson. Everyone is currently on a lunch break. During that time, 2 Hendrick team trailers showed up. It's not known if they contain evidence, cars to be confiscated, or are empty to pick up the already confiscated car & engine.
Over the weekend, several drivers, crew chiefs, and announcers slammed the Nascar appeals process. No one expects the #48 team to win because NO ONE has EVER won an appeal against Nascar. The appeals board is known as "Howie, Dunnit, and Whye" .
Right now the 48 team faces: $100,000 fine for Crew Chief Chad Knaus, $100,000 fine for car owner Jeff Gordon (majority owner w/ Rick Hendrick), 25 points deduction for both car owner & driver Jimmie Johnson, 6 race suspension for Crew Chief Chad & for the Car Chief. Part of the defense is that the car never took the track (so therefore no advantage was received) and that the car fit the templates issued by Nascar.
By far the most entertaining part is the reporters tweets. They had the Charlotte track chef show up with deep fried cupcakes. And now Dominos was just delivered, sent by Michael Waltrip racing....now they wanna know if Richard Childress Racing will send over a truckload of Budweiser.

And the Nascar appeals board record stands! Entire penalty upheld. Not a single vote in favor of the 48 team.
Say bye bye for the next 6 races Chad! The question now is, can 5 time Jimmie Johnson make the chase this year? He's already so far in the hole that it doesn't look good.

oopsie, spoke too soon. Mr Hendrick plans to appeal again w/ a super secret Nascar "final" appeals panel. Says that Chad WILL be at Bristol this weekend.

On a funny note..... Dale Jr is now the owner of Juan Pablo Montoya's car that hit the jet dryer at Daytona. Daytona Speedway wanted the car for their museum, but asked too late. The Crew Chief for the #42 is a former team member from Dale Jr's team & GAVE the car to Jr (with permission from the team owner).
Dale Jr has a large section of property & he has an ATV trail on it. He collects wrecked cars from different teams & uses them as trail markers. He has almost 30 cars at this point from almost every team. All were wrecked beyond repair & all were given to him at no cost. They are scattered along the ATV trail to mark the trail & for when someone gets "lost". They can call & say what the last car they saw was & can be easily found. Getting lost on the trail was a common problem it seems.

I've managed to get to 3 NASCAR races in my lifetime. Hoping to hit one or two more some day - time and money depending.

The attendance looks low for Bristol.....5 years ago, you would need to buy tickets almost one year in advance......Attendance today looks about 50%.
