It is estimated that 20% of Americans do not believe that anyone has ever step foot on the moon, and in actual fact, the 6 missions to the mysterious ball of rock were all a well planned and thought out hoax.
There are many reasons for why people think this, the main few are as follows.
- In 1969 through to 72, the technology available was not advanced enough to take 12 men to the moon and back, (which is almost a half a million round trip). And how come ever since, in a technological boom and the sheer level of our technology, we haven't been able to go back, in fact ever since the furthest we have ever gone as humans is about 410 miles away from the ground. - If the astronauts did go to the moon, they would have been exposed to high levels of radiation in what is known as the Van Allen radiation belt, which sits about 1000 miles above the surface and surrounds our planet, for humans to go through this, it probably would have been fatal. - The flag is flapping on the moon when one of the astronauts is shoving it into the surface, there is no wind on the moon, or even an atmosphere, so for there to be wind is a scientific impossibility. - It's very hot on the moon, this goes back to the technology side of it, it's over 110 degrees Celsius in the sun. - Some of the astronauts when asked to, refused to swear on the bible that they were on the moon.
In my opinion, I don't think anyone has been up there, at the time, the technology was simply not advanced enough, it was a hoax.
Thoughts?

Every single piece of "evidence" in the moon hoax conspiracy has been thoroughly debunked. There was no reason to fake it, and the Soviets had every reason to catch America in a lie - but even THEY don't believe it was a hoax. In fact, the Soviets were tracking the moon landing flight from start to finish, and amateur HAM radio operators were doing the same. They found no reason to believe in these conspiracies.
Perhaps even more obvious is the fact that we went to the moon six times, even when the public didn't care about moon landings any longer. The space race had already been won and there was nothing left to prove.
So WHY would the US risk getting caught 5 more times by staging 5 more hoaxes? It doesn't make any rational sense.
In addition, US astronauts took mirrors up there so that astronomers here on earth could bounce lasers off of them to measure the moon's distance and rate of its departure from earth. Scientists still use those mirrors today.
It's not that we were unable to go back (why would we go 6 times and then suddenly lose the ability to do it?), we just have no good (i.e. financial) reason to go back. A lot of the moon landing motives centered around beating the Russians. Once we did, there was no reason to keep going.
Debunked. The Van Allen belt's radiation is not strong enough to instantly irradiate someone. It requires longer exposure times which the astronauts were not subjected to.
Debunked. The flag was supported by a horizontal aluminum rod. Otherwise, the flag would just droop around the pole. Because there is no wind resistance, the motion of the flag was not reduced by friction and thus kept shaking long after the astronaut planted it. The transferrance of energy to the supporting rod caused the flag to shake for a much longer period of time than it would have on earth due to their being no air.
That's what space suits are for.
Yes, this is a proposal put out by Bart Sibrel who mercilessly stalked, harassed, and quote mined the astronauts, especially Neil Armstong - and then produced a heavily edited (i.e. inaccurate) film. The reason why Armstrong refused to swear on a Bible was because he didn't want to be shown in any of Sibrel's films, not because he was trying to cover up a moon landing hoax. Why would you cooperate with someone who has stalked you for years? I wouldn't.

Yes they did......It was undoubtedly very risky but they did. The Lunar Orbiter sent pictures back when it photographed the moon a couple of years ago. The tracks and apparatus are still there... and can be seen. The flag isn't there....... but its thought it blew over in the take off.

Ah! ...
The original classic hoax conspiracy theory! Just for the record ... I believe the moon landings actually happened! Mainly because I remember how big of a deal it was when this happened! I believe the only reason that this hoax theory has never suffered the fatal blow that it deserves is because there are so few photos ever offered showing all of the space trash that was left up there? Those posted by "Spellbound" are actually the best ones that exist!
I understand the fact that nothing can satisfy the Foil-Hat crowd on this ... but I do think we could get that 20% number down to the standard 5% of loons that believe in every far-out conspiracy theory! We have super telescopes that can (by their own description) focus on the moon's surface clear enough to accurately measure the distance between the headlights of a car parked there!
Let's start a collect (and I'll even supply the hat) to fund a weekend rental of said telescope to be aimed at the space-trash resting there and then we invite Jesse Ventura & his friends to take turns peeping at the coffin-nail to their doubts ... and let them mark (at least) this one off of their list of doozies?

Did we land on the moon, no we didn't but I believe someone did, even though some are claiming the moon landings were a hoax. The nearest I have been to the moon was when I was in a plane 35 thousand feet up. I am usually stood looking up at it, clouds permitting that is.

Another theory is: The moon is artificial!? No it is definitely not artificial, it really is made out of green cheese. Just a good job there are no mice on the moon, not even a weevil.

We need then, to send space buckets to scoop the cheese up and bring back. Cheese with everything. Cheese in your cakes ,fruit salad,on toast, stuffed in chicken and lamb, ice cream, cheese milk shakes and cheese custard. hmm

We may need to use those space buckets again after being sick for eating too much cheese.

I have, but I meant I may buy some this time. I do sort of find it a little blandish if you'll forgive me for saying. Or rather I still am not certain what it is people are tasting. I am clueless

Has anyone tasted Moon rock, we a have a stick of rock here called Blackpool rock, we know it it's Blackpool rock because it is shaped like a stick and is has the word Blackpool running through it. We don't have to go to the moon for it, just jump into the car and drive over to the seaside Town of Blackpool. Blackpool is a bit like Las Vegas only smaller, lots of lights and glitter, and trashy with it, the sea shore is popular though, lots of nice sand to sit around in while you attempt to get a tan.

America is the only country where a significant proportion of the population believes that professional wrestling is real but the moon landing was faked.

That is all my illusions gone up in smoke then Pod, the only thing I thought wasn't fake in America was the Wrestling. Mind you the Moon landings looked real too, could be the assassination of John F and Bobby Kennedy could be fake has well, and they have them both hidden away. Probably in that area they call Area51.
