Shirt off Babe Ruth's back sells for a record $4.4 million
It might be more authentic with a mustard stain from one of the hot dogs he famously noshed between innings, but Babe Ruth's circa-1920 Yankees road jersey was real enough to fetch a record $4,415,658 at auction when bidding closed Sunday. For you comparison shoppers, that's about $3.5 million more than the Babe earned in his 22-year playing career, and dwarfs even the $1.65 million price tag on the suburban Boston home where Ruth lived during his days with the Yankees -- which, you know, you can actually live in. Pro tip for the winning bidder: Be sure to wash the jersey on the "delicate" setting.

I like Babe Ruth. What a legend he was. But I wouldn't pay silly money for anything.

Babe Ruth, wasn't that the bloke who played the girls game, i think you call it Baseball, where as, we in the UK call it Rounders. Another game you Yanks stole from our girls was Netball, you are now calling it Basket ball.
