Tiger Woods' niece Cheyenne Woods will make her professional debut at the Wegman’s LPGA Championship later this month. Her second LPGA major will be a big one: the US Women’s Open.
Cheyenne Woods qualified for the Open May 30 at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, N.C.
Woods, who will play Wegman’s on a sponsor exemption, shot 2-over 146 (74-72) at Women’s Open sectional qualifying to tie North Carolina sophomore Katherine Perry for medalist honors. Rinko Mitsunaga also advances from that site. Because of weather delays, the 36-hole one-day qualifier stretched over two days.
Other notable members of the class of 2012 to qualify for the Women’s Open include Alabama’s Brooke Pancake, also a member of the US Curtis Cup team, UCLA’s Brianna Do and South Carolina’s Katie Burnett.
