First, let me introduce this ... which I find to be just mind-blowing. I can't even begin to describe the rampant stupidity coming from the right side of the aisle. Ready? Okay, here we go:
Texas Republicans Seek to Ban Critical Thinking in Public Schools
Here is the actual language from a position statement in the 2012 Texas Republican Party Platform:
Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority.

Wow, what a little fear and religious extremism won't do, right?
We affirm that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society and contributes to the breakdown of the family unit. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle, in public policy, nor should “family” be redefined to include homosexual “couples.” We believe there should be no granting of special legal entitlements or creation of special status for homosexual behavior, regardless of state of origin. Additionally, we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction or belief in traditional values.

So, because conservatives are cowering under the bed in regards to things like evolution and homosexuality, it's best that we simply strip critical thinking from Texas schools completely. Why? Because if we don't, our kids might catch on to the fact that conservatives are completely full of shit!!
But here's where it gets really, really good:
52% of US Companies Say Job Applicants are NOT Qualified?
From the 2011 Talent Shortage Survey, employers in many countries reported a slight increase in difficulty, but in the US it has jumped from 14% in 2010, to 52% in 2011, with technicians, sales representatives, trade skill workers and engineers in the top four.Companies are seeing how the cut back in training and education from the 2000 recession is now impacting the talent pool. The companies that have and developing a strategy for attracting and retaining the right talent now will win the talent pool dilemma. Job seekers are also going to have to step up their game and make sure they are relevant and up to date with their hard and soft skills, mindset and attitude, as well as flexible with working hours and geography. These are some of the strategies companies are using to overcome the talent shortage according the the report.

Well, hell's bells, Marg, say it ain't so! I mean ... how do you suppose THAT happened?
But instead of making our students more prepared for the job market, we're going to dumb them down, stupify them, refuse them the ability to think critically - which affects problem solving skills, conflict resolution, and a host of others - and then import talent from, say, a non-Christian nation like INDIA!
WTF?
This is what happens when stupid people lead stupid people. The conservative mantra is completely bankrupt.
In two words: You suck.
