Avert your eyes, egg-lovers. New research from Canada's Western University says eating egg yolks regularly is nearly as effective as smoking cigarettes when it comes to speeding up atherosclerosis, or coronary artery disease. The study looked at 1,231 men and woman with the average age of 61.5 years and found eating three or more egg yolks per week over the years was two-thirds as bad as smoking for increasing carotid plaque on your inner arterial wall, a risk factor for stroke and heart attack. Study authors stressed that "regular consumption of egg yolk should be avoided by persons at risk of cardiovascular disease." Boo!

I find such studies interesting because they seem so out of the world.

I've always though eggs are high in cholesteral...thus bad for your heart. You can eat eggs of course...its like with everything else as long as your diet is varied and you don't have them every day its fine. I have them because they are high protein - low calorie.

Complete bunk. Eggs are nutritious and perfectly fine. If you want to believe every study that comes out and act accordingly, that is up to you. But, i personally subscribe to a a more natural foods kind of eating. The closer that the food is to the way God made it, the better it probably is for you. Obviously veggies are good for you. But, the further away you get from their natural state, and start altering them by breading and deep frying, well, then not so much. But, i don't care what any study says. I am going to eat what i want, when i want and how i want.

I don't truly agree with what you're putting forth, Fuzz. There are foods that are bad for certain ages or sexes or conditions etc. It might be the proportion size or the elements/chemicals found in the food itself. Take one example of a papaya. It's a nice fruit but doctors advice pregnant women not to eat an unripe papaya or else complications can arise. Was God playing cruel there I wonder. Then there are few other fruits which pregnant women shouldn't eat including pineapples. www.papaya-nutrition.info/dangers-of-unripe-papaya-in-pregnancy/www.boldsky.com/pregnancy-parenting/prenatal/2011/pineapple-benefits-avoid-pregnancy-300311-aid0104.htmlThen there are foods with people being allergic to them such as strawberries. Or people don't have enzymes in their bodies to break up the natural sugars. Then such healthy foods become a curse for them.

Star - Dp what works for you and i will do what works for me. Obviously, if a food bothers you or you are allergic to it, you woudn't choose to eat it. I can't eat raw pineapple as it makes me sick so i don't. But, i simply have lived long enough not to jump on every new medical bandwagon. If you choose to fine. I am going to live as long as i live. I am going to live in moderation. Eat what i want in moderation. Exercise. I dont' smoke. And, i treat my body well but i am not going to worry about every little thing and jump on board with all the new hysteria. I will eat what i want to eat and i am not going to medically bullied by the Food Police.

I like my eggs - I had scrambled eggs with toast this morning. It's usually boiled egg on school days.

One of the challenges on Master Chef was making the perfect egg. A perfect soft boiled egg, a perfect poached egg and a perfect sunny side up egg, etc. I have never made a soft boiled or poached egg.

I have made a mess out of my boiled egg once. I tried removing the shell and with it the white part came off too.
