I think that what started as a good idea became bloated and unwieldy with bureaucracy. All the same, I wouldn't like to see health and safety in the workplace flouted, just relaxed.

Men in their eighties are better suited to being fathers than young men. They are up eight times a night anyway

I took some kids for an open air lesson on our own football pitch and I had to fill out a risk assessment......and take a walkie talkie.... In case they fell over a lump of grass and broke a leg....... ....and I went with an A'level pupil to an adjoining disused cemetary to take photographs... and got in heaps of trouble because we had crossed the road....(via the crossing with an 18 year old) and I hadn't done a risk assessment. Its just time consuming burocracy.

Hey Spell. Health and safety is very important, though as I understand the matter it was the development of ‘compensation culture’ which caused the bloating noted above by Royston. I, too, wouldn’t like to see the baby thrown out with the bathwater.

Everyone know most Health and saftey is now so out of hand it is a joke. H & S visited our farm in uk to inspect our machinery, mostly tractors, as one would expect, this H & S bloke says you need a shroud over the P:T:O drive on one of the tractors, hubby says why? bloke says someone might fall on it and injure themselves, but hubby says, I only engage P:T:O drive when I need to use it, and who is going to fall onto it in the middle of a field, accidents can happen says bloke! Hubby muttered something about, yes and I might accidently run over someone with the tractor.. Bloke then turned nasty, get it sorted, I will be back in 2 weeks to check, and if it isnt done, 20000 quid fine. Yes he did come back two weeks later to check.
