I have bad news for the fiscal cliff truce negotiators. The cost of the Obamacare health program has ballooned from $900 billion over 10 years– the figure promised by Pres. Obama in 2009– to a new estimate earlier this year from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) of $1.76 trillion over the 10 years between 2014 and 2023.
That means a cost of $176 billion a year starting in 2014– almost double the $90 billion a year that was Obama’s projected cost just before the bill passed.
In fact the $900 billion figure has been increased each and every year since 2009. It jumped to $1.4 trillion in 2010, and then to $1.7 trillion in 2011. I have been told CBO is working on a more timely estimate of the rising costs, as a Republican legislative study in the late summer alleged the cost had risen to $2.6 trillion.
I’ll bet none of you was aware of the steadily rising cost of Obamacare. But, there are plenty of articles about this on the Internet that you can read. To be honest I’ve never known just how accurate the CBO estimates are. Also, it has been in the interest of the Republicans wishing to repeal Obamacare– to make it sound disastrous.

Obamacare probably sounds wonderful to those who presently have no health insurance, never worked, or are on some supposed disability that keeps them from the work force but not from the liquor store. Those are the type of peeps who have never worried in their lives about how things are going to get paid for. They just continue to live above their means, refuse to work, then declare bankruptcy and not pay their bills when things start catching up with them.
They continue to leech off others until enough time goes by to start the cycle all over again. They pass this type of message on to their children. That's why we have generations of families that continue to scam our system and make the rest of us pay their way through life.
Then there are the opposite. Some of those are hard working folks who simply are making barely enough to get by and cannot afford the escalating price of health coverage. Some may have had decent coverage and recently lost their jobs due to a legitimate illness, or lay offs, and now can't afford the coverage until they hopefully get another job, which in today's economy is extremely difficult to find.
The debate comes down to whether or not health care should be considered an entitlement or a privilege. That point has been debated throughout Obama's 5 yr campaign, leading up to him getting reelected. Bottom line, the middle class will get hit hardest no matter how things pan out. If anyone actually believes that his plan will only affect the the ones making greater than $250K/yr in the long run, then I have some swamp land in Fl that I would like to sell you. This plan will definitely trickle down to the middle class in a very short time.
I'm not sure I agree with Romney's statement about the 47% who have the entitlement mentality regarding pretty much everything the rest have to pay for. I do however think that there are way too many folks who continue to abuse the system that was never meant to sustain folks all of their lives. That attitude, along with the greed from doctors, hospitals & drug companies are what has gotten this whole health care system in our country out of control. JMO.

The healthcare industry will be paid one way or another. With or without "Obamacare," healthcare costs will continue to rise and EVERYONE will pay. Lazy people who play the system aren't going to change any more than the greedy people/corporations who play the system will. Corporate welfare still costs 3 times more than social welfare.

The biggest system being played is the 2 party, winner take all system employed by 2 political parties to rule government at every level and funded by corporations. A system that is never mentioned in the US Constitution any more than political parties are.

This kind of crap pisses me off.
I'm not even going to say anything further about it except to say that I'm sick of this kind of shit. Goddamn stereotyping, that's all it is, and it's no better than racism.
Just hope and PRAY that YOU don't end up disabled. Then we'll see what kind of tune you whistle through that prejudiced mouth of yours.

The fact is, Shirina, there are many who "claim" to be disabled when, in fact, they're not. But, they're sure scamming the system. I'm sorry you take offense to what was said but it is what it is and you shouldn't lump yourself into that category!

I know, Sunshine. There are scammers. No matter what system is in place there will always be scammers.
The reason why I take offense is because too many on the right paint every disabled person with that brush ... it's a way to circumvent their own morality by assuming anyone disabled is a scammer. It's done to such a degree that I sometimes actually feel guilty for having a disability, which is completely irrational.
But this idea that disabled people are really lazy scammers who sit around all day getting drunk is both insulting and dangerous. It'll only lead to the same kind of unfounded prejudices we see against gays or Muslims or any other group Americans decide to attack.
Enough is enough.

The debate comes down to whether or not health care should be considered an entitlement or a privilege -------------------- Neither. Health care is a right which should be extended to all citizens.

I understand why you take offense, Shirina, but many on disability use the broad brush excuse to take offense and show outrage. And I'm sorry but it's not just the "right" who does it to circumvent their own morality. The left does it too.
Guilt is self inflicted, Shirina.

Huh? That's like saying the police use bank robbery as an excuse to arrest people who steal from banks. If they're guilty of doing it, then it isn't an excuse, it's a reason ... and a justified one. If they didn't paint in such a broad brush, disabled people wouldn't take offense. That's pretty simple, don't you think?

I think your judgement can be a bit clouded, Shirina, but that's jmo!
And if someone is guilty of doing it doesn't make it a valid reason. It can be just an excuse. But, you have your school of thought and I have mine. Clearly we're not going to agree. I still wubs yer gutzez!

By what? Of course it's a valid reason. If not when someone is guilty, then when? Never? Aww, same to you.

" it's a way to circumvent their own morality by assuming anyone disabled is a scammer."
No one posted that ANYONE who is disabled is a scammer.
"I'm sick of this kind of shit. Goddamn stereotyping, that's all it is, and it's no better than racism."
Nice language. Pretty typical stereotyping yourself. Crying racism because you don't like posters who disagree with Obamacare isn't surprising given your past posts. Sorry if I struck a nerve when I complained about SOME folks scamming the system regarding supposed disabilities. Perhaps both you and IIF would be better served trying to find some type of computer job as you both seem to have thousands of posts and don't seem to have any problem using a computer, while berating folks who disagree with your political beliefs. I think that may make you both feel better about yourselves. Peace out.
