For those of you who use an image in your mini profile, the code has been fixed, which means you'll no longer have to re-enter the url to the image every time you modify your profile.
If, for some reason, you still experience the problem, please let me know.
Thanks!

I'm using Shades of Blue. Why do I still see 20 smileys in that post?

Welts, if anyone uses the smileys in a post you will see them, which I believe I stated in the Smiley Free thread/announcement.
Try something for me, on any thread you regularly visit, click the reply button. Under the space to type your reply in is a list of different things like "bookmark", "sticky thread", etc. The second one down (I think) should be to "disable smilies". Click that box and make a post. I'm not sure if that will disable all smilies for you or if it'll be strickly for that post alone.
Let me know then which.
Also, if you go to your Profile and click "Modify Profile" there is a section called "Account Preferences". In that section you should see a line that says "Show Images". You could switch it to "no" but I must warn you that I believe if you do, you will see NO images at all.
Thanks

Shine, the mini profile is the area to the left of your posts that houses your avatar and other information.
If you go to your Profile and click "Modify Profile" you should see a section called "Personal Information". In that section you should see "MP BackGround" and a space to the right of that to place a url of an image you want to show behind the other information in your mini profile. Like if you look to the left of my post, you'll see this .......
The thing to remember about an image for the mini profile is that the profile doesn't resize the picture so you'll only see about 30% of the pic; not 100%.

There seems little point in disabling smileys if, when I click on a thread, I'll have 642 hyperactive onion heads coming at me. Never mind. I'll live with it.

But that's why my other post said to use the reply button and before making a post, check the box that says "If this box is checked, smiley emoticons will be disabled in your message" and see if that works for all .

Smilies will be disabled in MY message? In my own post? What's the point of that? Why would I want to disable them in my own post when I could just as easily not insert them? Maybe I'm just not getting it. I don't want to disable them in my own messages when I hit "post reply". I don't want to see dozens of them leaping and jumping and whirling and spinning and dancing the jitterbug in other peoples' messages. I guess that's not possible.

Honestly Welts, I'm not sure how checking that box works. That's why I asked you to at least try it and see what happens. It may disable all. I can't try it because as the Admin the board works slightly different for me than it does for you. And every board I've been on has smileys.
The only other option is to go modify your profile and disable all images, which means you won't see pics of any kind then.
