It seems that little right wingers hear words concerning gun "control", and they believe their constitutional rights are being taken away...

Does the constitution say that all American citizens have the right to keep and bear arms regardless of criminal history?

Does a background check violate their constitutional rights?

Hmm, I don't recall electing the NRA, yet they are the ones pulling the strings here, not democracy. Representatives are there to represent we the people, not their own personal agendas or to carry out the will of an unelected body such as the NRA.
This was not democracy in action, Fuzzy, but a coup d'etat where the NRA just took the power away from the people.

Indeed I can, which means I can read the part about a "well regulated militia."
How can any militia be well-regulated without regulation?
The Constitution cannot be used to defend this.
At all.

This was not democracy in action, Fuzzy, but a coup d'etat where the NRA just took the power away from the people. Very true. In fact almost every poll shows the same results. The majority of the american voting public is in favor or stricter gun control regulations, specifically the back ground checks that were part of the compromise the repos and dems had recently signed off on before taking it to the senate for a vote. Its clear the NRA has been pulling some strings there without a doubt. Shirina's coup d'etat reference is pretty accurate to describe the influence the NRA seems to have over policy. The one good thing that came out of this recent mess, is that the ones who voted against the bill will most likely lose their seats in the next election, including the small number of dems who voted against it. So even though these measures might get shelved for now, the NRA wont be able to block it from passing for much longer.

The NRA didn't vote the bill down. Elected officials did. If you don't like the elected officials, vote them out.

Fuzzy, no one said the NRA voted, they are saying the NRA has too much influence on our lawmakers to the point they are able to push them to vote , not for the will of the people of which a clear majority of whom are in favor of stricter gun laws, but for the NRA's agenda. So when the next election for congressional seats comes around a lot of them who are in the pocket of the NRA will be losing their spot.

After all the death & destruction of the past few days, it's beyond fucking low class to be gloating & beating your chest over gun rights.
How about a giant cup of shut the fuck up & realize now is NOT the time for more political bullshit. In case you hadn't crawled out from under your rock lately, 3 dead in Boston and at least 35 dead in West, Texas.... including the entire fucking VOLUNTEER fire dept. show some class for once.

Wah, wah, wah. We elect legislators who represent us and vote. If people don't like the votes, they can kick them out of office and put new people in. This makes sense to the 10% who got what they want. 90% are wondering what the hell happened. IF I remember correctly, they wanted background checks before purchasing firearms. AND they wanted to ban automatic assault rifles. I know many gun owners, myself included, who weren't against this. I know many people who belong to the NRA who weren't against this. I for one, do not believe anyone should be able to purchase a firearm of any kind over the internet. You have no idea who you are selling to. It should be banned. If people want firearms, they can go to their local gun dealer, have the background check done, and then purchase their firearm. That's how it has been done in this state and the one I grew up in for years. I see nothing wrong with that. It does stop some the weapons getting into some of the hands that have no business owning a firearm. Responsible gun owners have no problem with background checks. Responsible gun DO have a problem when they start talking about taking away people's guns OR imposing a fine on every gun owner. Our second amendment gives the United States citizens the right to bear arms. There is no reason to take that away, because we have irresponsible states or irresponsible gun owners. I have no problem with gun laws, as I mentioned above. There is no need for your average citizen to own an assault weapon. Background checks do not take that much time. A background check will keep the firearm out of the hands of someone with who has domestic violence charges against them. Do you really want that type of person to have a firearm? IT would be nice if those with a mental illness weren't allowed to purchase a firearm as well. That would have saved the colorado shooting, and many of the other ones as well. Also banning online purchases of firearms would have helped in the colorado shooting. A required trigger lock would save many children from shooting other children. What the laws do not help is keeping them out of the criminals hands. (for example gangs) they follow no laws, they steal to get the weapons, or purchase them off the black market (who sells stolen weapons). Nothing is going to be perfect. But we have to start somewhere. Hell the background checks have helped in this state. If it saves the life of just one person, it was worth it.

No, someone has an uncle that lives South of Waco that responded to the explosion in West last night & is VERY upset & concerned over an area of Texas that I am VERY familiar with & have family all over.
If you don't like it, then don't read it. Problem fucking solved.

At least 35 dead, 5 first responders still missing, blocks and blocks of the entire town destroyed, elderly people rescued from a collapsed nursing home. All 10 of the volunteer fire dept of West, Texas are dead.
have some respect for the men & women who put their lives on the line to save others. For the first responders who think of others before themselves. For the children injured & possibly killed. For the families of the injured and deceased.
Let's see who has a heart & can be respectful of the REAL sacrifice made by incredibly brave men & women and who would rather be a soul sucking fucktard instead.

Since I'm not in Texas and wasn't able to thank any of the first responders there, today I took lemon meringue pies up to my local fire house & the police station in town. Stop and thank a fire man, a police officer, an EMT & let them know how much we all appreciate what they do & the risks they take. Do something nice for them.
