Greek lawmakers on Sunday agreed to cut thousands of government workers to secure another 8.8 billion euros ($11.5 billion) in bailout funds.
The vote clears the way for 15,000 civil servants to be fired by the end of 2014, the first time Greece's cash-strapped government has said it will cut its workforce of about 700,000.
The right to a permanent position once hired by the public sector had been protected by the Greek constitution before Sunday, and about one in four Greeks is on the public payroll. Cutting that figure is part of the loan agreement between the government and its creditors, the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.

I hear Spain is in really bad shape too (like 25+% unemployment)...I bet the tourists are being mugged right and left. We were very careful with our money while in Europe...we were warned about pick pockets. No problems...I spent most of the money anyways! ;D

$2,000. Hell I can't even come with an extra $200 most days. $100 is difficult, but I could most likely come up with it. Why would it surprise you that people can't come up with an extra $2,000 on short notice. Middle class is being hit hard from both ends, the poor get the hand outs, they will do ok. The rich have money, it's the middle class that pays for every stinking thing. It's the middle class who can't come up with the extra money. It's the middle class who has their credit ruined. It's the rich and poor who take from them.
