it seems a lot of people, as they grow older, find that they eat less. if i'm gonna eat less, i'm gonna eat better stuff. when i want crab cakes... they will be hand-made by me from real crab meat... more crab than meat. NEVER with Krab.
REAL butter, real mayo, real maple syrup. if i want ice cream, a pint might last me days taking a few spoonfuls at a time... BUT it's gonna be something like Haagen Daaz... or how ever you spell that. chocolate isn't gonna be from the dollar store.
how about you?

Krab has its places but a crab cake is not one of them.
Hellmans Mayo Skippy peanut butter real butter, Kerry Gold better I do a mix of real maple syrup and sugar free to reduce the sugars but prefer just the maple Most chocolate will do but I prefer European over American. And the darker, the better

good EV olive oil. one of the foods i never had as a kid. usually had Miracle whip... once i discovered real mayo... no turning back. always had Log Cabin syrup. if there were kids in my house (even adult "kids") i would dole out the real maple syrup.
tuna... solid in olive oil. if found in a jar, even better.
NEVER had box MAC as a meal... on rare occasions, it was a side.
REAL bacon! no "turkey" stuff. once had coupon for name brand turkey "Italian sausage" and decided to make sausage/peppers for sandwiches. had horrible SOFT texture, way over-spiced, all i could taste was sage. my dog LOVED them!
never pre-sliced lunch meats/cheese. need to be sliced fresh and paper thin.

Not a fan of sweet and savory mixed but I would like that crab cake recipe too. I would just leave out the maple syrup.
Plastic cheese slices aka Kraft singles. Give me the deli stuff.

NOOOOO! hadda go back to reread what i wrote to see if i said anything remotely like that! fresh/refrigerated lump crab meat... the lumpier the better & as expensive as i can afford. finely minced onion and bell pepper an egg (slightly beaten first) mayo... just enough for stuff to start to come together. hefty glug of worcestershire and hot sauce. portion into balls and chill well. beaten egg > seasoned bred crumbs > shallow fried in bacon grease.

I feel the same way. If i am going to eat, I want to eat quality food. I cook a lot and I like to buy good and fresh ingredients. Or, if i eat out or buy something i want it to be quality.
