this was topic on NJ101.5 this afternoon on drive home.
locked myself out of car once. car had power nothing and keys had fallen out of my pocket and just lay there teasing my. AAA to my rescue.
a thousand years ago, right after i moved into a house, new neighbor came over to show me how to break into my own house. had to use that info once.
when my sil was VERY pregnant, she locked herself IN her house. when she realized she had left keys dangling in outside door lock, she thought she would have to wait till hubby got home. she realized she had groceries still in the car and it could be several hours before her rescue. she called 911 and attempted to explain her situation and go giggling. they thought they had someone hysterically crying... she was rescued!
ever locked yourself out of somewhere?

Yup. More than once. It is why we have a key hidden outside the house and a trusted neighbor also has a key.
While I was growing up, I locked myself out whiole I was home sick from school. Got an extension ladder from a neighbor and crawled in the bathroom window which did not have a lock. It was a firt floor bathroom but at the back of the house where it would have been the second floor because the basement was at ground level.
The car has keyless entry and won't lock if the key is inside. Smart for me now as long as I have access to the key which is in my purse. Except for the day I locked the purse in the house.

I have locked myself out a few times when I have gone walking and forgot to take my key. No biggie as a friend nearby has a spare. I DID accidentally lock my toddler son in the car though in the garage. He was sound asleep in his car seat and it was in the winter, so he had a snowsuit on to keep him warm. The cops had to come stick something down the side of the window to unlock the door.

Out of the house once. Key hidden in the chicken yard gets you into the crawl space. Key hidden in the back of crawl space gets you into barn. Key hidden in barn opens house. I try to keep it simple.

I've been locked out a couple of times. I have this ingrained habit of locking the car door as I open it to get out. It's like one motion for me . . . openlock! I always have the extra key in my purse. Well, one winter's day, very, very cold and very, very snowy, I had to stop at the post office to mail something. I decided to leave the car running (just filled the gas tank) and run in to PO quickly leaving purse in car and heat on full blast. Well, yep, you guessed it. When I came back out, I couldn't get in the car! It took three hours before anyone could come to get me in it.
I recently locked myself out of my last apartment when I moved back from NH. It took me an hour to remember that I had the bathroom window open which was accessible from the back porch. UGH
