Senior doctors have warned that GPs could use health service reforms to market private services to their NHS patients.
Doctor
GPs have defended offering private care to patients
The concern comes after a group of GPs in York had offered private care to patients who had been told their condition was no longer treated by the NHS.
The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) said the Health and Social Care Bill will increasingly lead to conflicts of interest.
RCGP chair Dr Clare Gerada said: "We believe the boundary between what a GP offers under their NHS provision, and what is offered for a private fee, is in danger of becoming increasingly blurred.
"The NHS works because patients trust their doctors. This is especially so with GPs, and is something we cannot allow to be diminished."
Doctors at the Haxby Group Practice wrote to around 30 patients to tell them that the NHS no longer paid for the minor procedures they wanted, including the removal of skin tags and moles. news.sky.com/home/article/16083362.......................................................................................................... Well this is a bit of a worry What do you think?

the worry is that even at this early stage in the shake up, the Doctor said in the interview that they had done nothing wrong! Talk about the Vultures circling overhead

Yes indeed There comes a point where you ask are you being offered the operation at a particular clinic because its best for you......or because its best for your doctor.
Also those who cannot afford to pay for these minor ops....skin tags..ingrowing toenails, warts etc.....would not get the operation. We could see a rise of quack doctors and home remedies once again.
