" Sunny in Clifton Springs "These sun flowers were still showing their color on Taylor Road in Clifton Springs. Photo by Shelly Lannon.
" Cutting Weeds " The weed harvester works in the river portion of the Seneca-Cayuga Canal between Waterloo and Seneca Falls. Photo by Tom Brady. I live on the canal and saw this and wondered what it was and what it was doing.
" Happy Hummer " A hummingbird enjoys these petunias in Tyre. They won't be here much longer so enjoy them while you can! Photo by Mary Sutterby.
" Chinese Medicinal Herb Garden at NYCC " Mark Benjamin of Seneca Meadows recently paid a visit to New York Chiropractic College (NTCC) and presented President Dr. Frank J. Nicchi with the latest in a series of installment contributions funding the construction and maintenance of a Chinese Medicinal Herb Garden. The garden is maintained and utilized by the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine that is located on the college’s campus in Seneca Falls. It is a living exhibition providing NYCC’s acupuncture and Oriental medicine students with hands-on experience, instruction, and cultivation techniques associated with distinctive medicinal herbs used by eastern healthcare professionals. I learned something today. I had no idea that an accupuncture and Oriental medicine school existed at NYCC. I'm not surprised. I doubt that the Syracuse or Rochester Schools of Medicine would house such a group.

" Empty Pier at Sodus Point " No one ventured out on the Light House Pier at Sodus Point on Sunday as Hurricane Irene passed by our region to the east. Photo by Glenda Nash.
" Surfing The Edge Of Irene " The waves were up at Lake Ontario near the Irondequoit Bay Outlet as the remnants of Hurricane Irene passed through the northeast. Photo by Aaron Winters.
" Catching Waves " This pair were enjoying the conditions on Irondequoit Bay on Sunday. Photo by Nigel Kent.
" Irene's Brush With Upstate NY " While the brunt of Hurricane Irene was felt to our east, the storm brought heavy rain to the eastern Finger Lakes counties and high winds that created these white caps on Sodus Bay. Photo by Mary Sutterby
