My beautiful dog isn't well...We were all in floods of tears yesterday at the vets when it became apparent that we may be losing her.
It struck me how important animals are to our lives and how devastated we are at their loss.
Have you got any pet stories?

Oh Spell, I'm so sorry to read this. Big hugs to you and yours. I've lost four beloved dogs through my life. I can't bring myself to get another . . . yet.

Spellbound, I hope that your dog recovers.
I've had pets (dogs or cats or both) for my entire life except when I was away at school. I stopped adding to my group about fifteen years ago and we were fine for a while. A few years ago, I started losing my cats. The last one died this past summer. It sucks. I went to the local no-kill cat shelter this past week but none of them tugged at my heart.
Again, best of luck to you and your dog.

Thanks for you concern ladies. Our dog has improved a bit on her pain medication. The vet is wanting her to have surgery but I have to weigh it up against how much you actually put a 12 year old dog through. We'll make a decision when we get the results of her tests.....She comfortable at the moment so thats the main thing.

Awww, that's the most you can do is to keep her comfortable for now. It's not easy to go through this. We're here if you want to talk.

peoples, my old lab had dodgy back hips in her old age, she was on meds and with a good vetin her last few yrs,
as the time went on she got slower and slower, cut a long story short we had her at vet about 5 times in 3 weeks,
it appeared she had a throat infection diagnosed because she kept coughing in her last 3 weeks, she had slight tep so vet put it down to infection so on antibiotics, after she seemed a bit better with not coughing but had goten even slower eve though a change in meds, then she satrted coughing again so she had tubes in for checking and exrays as it went, well that was the idea but she had to have a general anasthetic for ithad enough for king charles due to the fact she was 11half, made her blood pressure drop like a stone , they saved her put tubes down whilst she wasnt fully with it just for look, her throat , and lungs were in vets words riddled with cancer and on two branches one either side to lung had big tumor on each, needless to say we went to be with her there and then and cuddle her whilst she was put to sleep and at peace, reason im saying this is if you have an old dog with an established condition make sure the vet sees past this ,all her slowness and where her hips seemed to get worse wasnt it was she didnt have the strength or breath due to cancers sucking life from her. before this she wasnt ill she ate well and apart from needing help a bti on occasions to re stand [back leg wise ] nshe was still a devil and full of fun and love
