My neighbor insists on allowing her one dog to take a pee just outside the door to the entrance to the building, which just happens to be under my dining room window and right next to the flower beds. I have repeatedly asked her over the last two years to stop the dog from doing this and she refuses saying it doesn't hurt anything. I have explained that the smell of the urine when heated by the sun, which is all day long, permeates into my home and I'd like to be able to open the windows and air OUT the house. Still, she makes a face at me and continues to allow the dog to urinate in the same spot.
Is there any kind of household solution I can use to put on the area to deter the dog?
Thanks

Cayenne pepper & black pepper. dust the area the dog is peeing in heavily with cayenne & black pepper. It won't hurt the dog or the plants.

Oh excellent idea, Steff. Hadn't thought of that. He'll be sneezing all day! LOL I did spray down some full strength vinegar and sprinkled some baking soda. That's something I found online as a deterrent. The woman just doesn't care where the dog goes. Her other dog jumps in my flower beds and whizzes wherever he pleases. I've asked her to not let him because the urine kills the plants and flowers but she just doesn't care. The pepper will be a great idea for in the beds too. I'll have to buy me a huge container. LOL

Even cinnamon will work. Just remember that after rain you need to reapply the spices. After the dogs get a good sneeze attack 2 or 3 times, they will naturally start to avoid that area. I would dust every area that you don't want them to visit.

Sunshine --I found this on a website dont know if it works but hey if all else fails try.
Instructions
1 Locate the spots dogs frequent most in your yard, especially the places where they urinate. Sprinkle chili pepper powder on the spots where dogs urinate, as the powder irritates their nose and discourages dogs from coming to that spot to urinate.
2 Soak a few cotton balls in ammonia, rubbing alcohol or vinegar, then drop the cotton balls in areas you want to keep dogs away from. The smell of ammonia, rubbing alcohol or vinegar is even stronger to a dog than it is to a human, and the smell is also unappealing to dogs. Never pour these liquids directly on the ground as either could harm plants.

If you spread pelletized gypsum on the ground where it pees, the urine won't kill the grass. If you tell the woman with the dog, it is dog poison, you won't have to use it.

buy a catapult and a bag of dried chickpeas, and sit near the window reading a book till the fecker turns up;you'll get to be a good shot quite fast, and it'll give you a laugh too! As to whether you shoot her or her dog, or both, is up to you.............(I'd do both-dog first,as she'll look at the dog, not towards you, and then while shes consoling Fido, you can get her too!) have a ball.......
