britain's gun ban works so well that five 13-15 year old boys can blow away an eleven year old to steal his bicycle. --------------------- You keep using the same one example over and over again. How many kids are blown away in the US every single day?

damn hon, locking your gun up, or having a stupid trigger lock is as imbecilic as it gets. if a punk breaks into your house, you'll be dead long before you unlock the gun ------------------- Well,by all means, leave your guns lying around where kids could get their hands on them. If they die, no problem. It was their time, right?

Guns are like drugs, if people want them they will go out their way to get them, the harder it is made to get hold of them the better it is. Better tight gun and drug laws keep gun and drug incidents down, less deaths and less having to intern people for breaking the law. Better than full cemeteries and over crowded prisons.

How would you go about banning guns to the extent of keeping them out of the hands of the criminally inclined?
Let's pretend that we have over 300 million guns wandering around this country.. How would you go about it?

A padlock will keep on honest man out of the tool shed. You can safely keep your tool shed unlocked, criminals are not after tools, tools mean work, and criminals are criminals because they don't want to work. Lets not pretend there are 300,000,000 guns in America, because there is, probably a lot more, if they are all confiscated, that will reduce your gun problem a hell of a lot, and you do have a gun problem, along with the mentality of a lot Americans.

Well put jack, and it illustrates the main problem here in the US when it comes to guns, far too many gun owners view their guns as toys. Jumbo's slip there in his statement that "guns are obviously toys when you are on the range shooting"(His Exact Words) is proof of that underlying mentality that is so rampant here. The truth is that guns should never be viewed, or thought of, or even referred to as toys, either on the range or in the home. wrong. i never said that a gun is a tonka truck or an erector set. i said that guns are to have fun with when you go to the range. as i've said before, firing an assault rifle is really fun. the reason that you go to the range is to have fun. This is a moot point in specific rebuttal to you jumbo now that you're gone, but it bears mentioning as an example illustrating my overall point. You termed guns as being obvious "toys" on the range. Those were you're exact words. Arguing that you weren't calling or comparing them to tonka trucks is irrelevant. You still refered to them as toys. That fruedian slip revealed your mentality as being much the same as the gun nuts so many of us were speaking against.

Gun's are guns on the firing range just as they are in war, certainly not toys. Criminality must be very rife in the US of A to expect Americans to be robbed or their lives being threatened 24/7. We have an easier way of dealing with pieces of shit, we flush it down the toilet. You hurt me to the quick calling me a Euroweenie, never call myself a European, I voted against us joining what they called the Common Market, in a referendum in the seventies. I would certainly like us to get of this European Union that we never voted for, they keep promising a referendum, but it is never forthcoming, they now what the British publics answer would be. OUT. you're obviously totally correct about the european union. NO intelligent person would support such an abjectly stupid idea. the entire concept of it is imbecilic. why you would vote against the european common market though, i don't understand. it was nothing but a trading block. there was no idiocy such as common currency, or the no border stupidty. britain's gun ban works so well that five 13-15 year old boys can blow away an eleven year old to steal his bicycle. americans ARE robbed and murdered 24/7. there are at least two home invasion robberies in nashville every week. there is an armed robbery every five seconds nationwide. Nationwide in 2010, there were an estimated 367,832 robberies. that is over ten times as many robberies as you have I would like to answer your question of why I didn't vote for us to join the Common Market, we belong to something called the British Commonwealth of Nations, most were formerly part of what was known has the British Empire. Like the Roman Empire the British Empire is now extinct, those countries are now free and independent states, that have chosen to remain and have close ties with Great Britain, (otherwise known has the United Kingdom, our Queen is head of state for a lot of those countries. We have always traded with Europe but not at the expense of those Commonwealth countries, i believe it would be detrimental to put Europe first before our Commonwealth friends. We have fought two world wars against European countries, it was those same Commonwealth countries that came to our aid in both wars and every minor skirmish since. We have fought numerous battles with Germany and France, the Common Market was a start of the take over of Europe by those two countries without having to fight a war. They are the ones that are doing the dictating on the Common Market and now what is known has the European Union. I personally want to stick with our true and proven friends, the Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, And the people from the sub-continent, India and the rest of the other countries that are members of the Commonwealth of Nations. Another thing, you pick up on one isolated event, some children shooting another child for a bike. Guns are rare in the UK, but there are a few, how this gun got into the hands of a child I don't know. That is way we insist any legally owned guns are locked away, not stuck in a draw for anyone to pick up and use. That is the trouble with America, slap happy gun laws, that is if you happen to have any. Why any one should want to go and live in the land of the free baffles me, you seem to be able to murder and rob at random, where has we with stricter laws get a lot less incidents than you do. Yes, we do have a few drug addicts and career criminals that break the law, but not that many.

Make it voluntary, like Willard's "voluntary deportation" idea. That should work especially well for the Romney folks.

Btw, Jack... A kid came by just the other day with an entire truck load of tools he was willing to let go for 500 bucks... He looked as though he would have use the money to buy drugs so I passed on the deal.

I'll wait and see if Jack has a better idea before I put things into place... ;D It doesn't happen to be Jack's problem, guns don't worry me, we don't have a gun problem. We once had a law that said all men had to be proficient with the long bow, they had to practice every day, just in case the country needed them for war. We don't have to do it now, times have changed. When they made the law that every American could carry and use a gun, that was for a similar reason. We don't need archers now, and America doesn't need every person to carry a gun. You won't find a long bow in in any British homes, they are left to film makers making a film about Robin Hood.

If you do see a kid in a truck, then he has probably nicked it from someone.

Let's see what's in today's news, shall we? A man shoots his wife and 7 yr old child, then self in Las Vegas. A 15 yr old shoots his mother, father, 9 year old brother, a 2 yr old sister and a 5 yr old girl in New Mexico. Another shooting at a school, a Texas college. Details forthcoming.
This is just scratching the tip of the iceberg. Something is terribly, terribly wrong.
