My grand sponsor, (my sponsor's sponsor) celebrating 35 years clean/sober:
i have wrestled with these nightmares for a long time, and its only been through this program and a loving God that has helped me find some redemption in the last 35 years, reaching out to other addicts just like me,my altar-ego's in the jail that i understand so well, and reach out, telling them they dont have to live like this anymore, theres a better way of living...... ......... ......... .....
I always pray that in my lifetime that i reach just 1 addict so that he can find his way home and reclaim his life, the way it should have been,to be the person that they always wanted to be.......... ......... ........
it is so vital that this message of hope reaches those that need to hear it,to be able to tell the families and wives and husbands, children, grandparents, they"re prayers have been answered and there is now a way and a dream fulfilled,so that the tears are those of joy,not sorrow, the path of healing and reunification have begun, and the joy of living and loving will bring them back together again....... ......... the dream comes true for all of us..........
This is what recovery is all about!!!!

Southern Comfort was Fred Dogs partner in crime... Southern had a sister whom I'm quite sure was a blond...

Here's a serious thought - can humans become fearless of everything and if so how will we perceive the world then? Will there be more chaos given there are no fears to harbour? Will the believers in God also become unbelievers given the fear for God too shall vanish?

Keep most of your mind in the present moment. Fear is 99% the mind projecting into the future, but nothing can happen there, things only happen "now". You can deal with what is happening right now. And "right now" is the only time there is. I don't know if that helps? It was a good question btw

On a serious note, I've found (12 step retoric agrees) in my facing sobriety, was that we all live a fear based existence to some degree. I feared everything from my next fix, to getting sober. How do you face fears? We begin by slowly addressing them, defining them, then walking through them. I did not get sober in a day. Even at 11 plus years clean, I am still learning how to live.

ABSOLUTELY I agree Lost! We deal with what's right in front of us first. The "what if's" will kill us. In 12 step, the past is the past. The future is uncertain. Deal with the here and now!

I know that in addiction, our world becomes very small because we are fearful, We learn thru 12 step, to both broaden our horizons and walk thru the fears.

I think there are people in the world, past and present, who have lived a life of no fear. I think those people were at opposite ends of the spectrum, i.e., extreme violence or peace. I think, IMO, one example of not having fear or living it was Mother Theresa.
I think that depends on the make up of a person. Some are prone to violence and some not.
No, at least not for me. My belief in God is not based on fear.

Thanks Lost, I'm loaded with good questions but I don't find the right platform to share them. Actually I have read a series of books called fearless where the main character Gaia is fearless so it does raise an eyebrow.
That sounds the right way to go about it Roygrip, thanks, though what I think is how do we get rid of the innate fears? I mean also is the fear of snakes really innate or the fear of heights?
I agree with you there Sunshine that those people will be at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Shall they be so rare?

LOL, Star! Part of my job description as a grip is heights, I'm afraid of heights! I take it easy and talk myself through it, I no longer panic as I identify it for what it is. Snakes...... I'll pass! (I don't like snakes) I was bitten as a kid, freaked mom out and it's stuck!
