NORWAY UPDATE: the death total has risen to at least 80 in the youth camp attack. The suspect, captured on the island (there's no way off the island except by boat and he was transported there under pretext of being a policeman), is a 32-year-old Norwegian farmer. He is a member of right-wing extremist groups. Poor NOrway. This is a tragedy on the level of 9/11 or the London subway bombing. 80 deaths in a country of Norway's size (5,000,000 approx. population) is devastating

Good morning my friends from Tuxy and me Today is 204th day of 2011 with 161 days left in the year. Today in central New York at 7:51 a.m. it's fair, temp 77ºF (feels like 78ºF), winds SSW @ 5 mph, humidity 71% and pressure 29.96 in and rising. Today - A mix of clouds and sun. High near record temp of 92ºF. winds W @ 5-10 mph, chance of rain 10%. Today's Headlines of Interest: 1. 'Paradise' turned to 'Hell": 84 killed at Norway Youth Camp. Police say suspect's website indicates he was a right-wing, Christian fundamentalist. National police Chief Oystein Maeland said the attack had reached "catastrophic dimensions." Witnesses said the gunman moved across the small, wooded Utoeya holiday island on Friday firing at random as young people scattered in fear. 84, mostly teens, dead in a country that has a total population only 1/3 the size of New York City. This is equivalent to our 9/11. My condolences go out to the people of Norway - you didn't deserve this horror. 2. There is really no other item today of the magnitude of the Norwegian tragedy.

Singer Amy Winehouse, the beehived soul-jazz diva whose self-destruction oveshadowed a distinctive musical talent, was found dead in her London home. The Grammy Award winner was 27 and had checked out of a treament center a month ago. Another sad show biz story of immense talent gone awry. R.I.P. Amy Winehouse. I hope your have finally found that peace.

I didn't know Winehouse's music but I've heard about her struggles with drugs and alcohol for years. She must have been a tormented soul. Like Peg, I hope that she has finally found peace.

The tragedy in Norway is really too much to take in. That this madman targeted children and young people is beyond comprehension. Even though there were far fewer victims, it makes me think of the little, Amish girls who were slaughtered several years ago. Assaults on innocents are more shocking, I think. They're too young to have done anyone wrong and too young to have realized their dreams. My heart goes out to their families and friends. I hope that government and people of the United States respond to this tragedy in a generous and thoughtful way.

Good morning my friends from Tuxy and me Today is 204th day of 2011 with 161 days left in the year. 8-)Today in central New York at 10:15 a.m. it's partly cloudy, temp 74ºF (feels like 76ºF), winds variable @ 3 mph, humidity 85% and pressure 29.99 in and steady. Today - Scattered thunderstorms turning into partly cloudy. High 84ºF. winds N @ 5-10 mph, chance of rain 40%. Today's Headlines of Interest: 1. I do! NY celebrates midnight nuptials as state recognizes same-sex marriage. NY ushered in gay marriage at the stroke of midnight Sunday, with a Buffalo couple among the first to wed on Goat Island, with rainbow-colored lights on Niagara Falls in the background. The couple have been together for more than 12 years. Kitty Lambert and Cheryle Rudd cut their wedding cake at their reception in Niagara Falls, NY. ::)Usually I don't do a Sunday Daily Bulletin but today I just have to go with this headline. And send out congratulations to all the newlyweds. :DFor once it's nice to have a headline of good news. Today's flower: Crinum 'Pauline Duver'

sus--I took the lopsidedness as evidence of the force they used to cut the cake.

us.social.s-msn.com/s/images/emoticons/coffee.gif [/img]Good morning my friends from Tuxy and me Today is the 206th day of 2011 with 159 days left in the year. 8-)Today in central New York at 9:10 a.m. it's mostly cloudy, temp 69ºF (feels like 71ºF), winds SW @ 5 mph, humidity 81% and pressure 29.89 in and falling. Today - variable clouds with scattered showers and thunderstorms , mainly during the afternoon (a few may be severe), high 85ºF. winds SSW @ 5-10 mph, chance of rain 40%. Another warm and muggy day. Today's Headlines of Interest. 1. NFL, Players reportedly agree to end lockout. According to an anonymous source, NFL owners and players agreed to the terms of a deal to end the lockout. I doubt it. First the Players Association executive committee has to meet and approve it. Then it goes before the 32 player reps. At this point, if it has passed, the owners will end the lockout. Finally, all 1,900 players have to vote and it has to pass by 50% +1. The executive committee meets today to take the first vote. 2. Lawmakers pursue rival budget plans, markets uneasy. US moves closer to ratings downgrade and default that could send shockwaves through markets worldwide, as a sharply divided Congress pursued rival budget plans that appeared unlikely to win broad support. I am sick to death of this whole thing. Pass a temporary raise of the debt limit and get on with the negotiations over budget cuts and taxes (raised on only the millionaires, not us peons who will be the first to suffer if the US defaults on its debts.) 3. Grizzly bear mauls teens hiking in Alaska. wilderness. Youngsters on trek with National Outdoor Leadership school ran across a mother grizzly and cub as they tried to cross a river in the Talkeetna Mountains. What an unfortunate incident but hardly the grizzly's fault. She was only protecting her cub from a perceived threat. We would do the same in circumstances we felt threatened one of our children. 4. Accused Norway killer of at least 93 attends brief court hearing. Suspect sought to trigger an 'anti-Muslim' revolution. Judge to close hearing to press. French police search house of Anders Breivik's father. This self-confessed mass killler has said that he wants to explain his motives at the hearing but the judge has closed it to the press and public. Good. There is absoutely nothing that can explain such horrific acts and let's not give him a forum to vent his right-wing hatred of the "others". 5. Moody's warns Greek default almost certain. Moody's cut Greece's credit rating further into junk territory and is certain to slap a default tag on its debt as a result of a new EU rescue package--euro zone leaders and banks agreed last week that the private sector should shoulder part of the burden of a rescue deal. Washington, are you listening? Do you want the same for us? It sure looks like it. 6. Vatican recalls Ireland envoy after abuse rebuke. Unusual step reflects heightened tensions after wave of criticism in Ireland over its role in the child abuse scandal. The Vatican's ambassador to Ireland has been recalled following severe criticism by the Irish parliament of the church's role in covering up child sex abuse. Good lord, will this never end? What is the matter with these "good, Christian gentlemen"? No wonder Islam is on the rise. The largest Christian entity keeps making the child abuse scandal worse, proving its Christianity is severely in question..
