<sigh> Typical governement. Good luck. I asked if we could talk via video conference but was told that I would have to see the orthopedist in person. Exactly why is beyond me, he already has the results of the MRI.

He has to justify what the goverment is paying him?

No big strides this week for me in fitness and nutrition . . . still haven't done a Jillian Michael's work-out. Somehow I think it won't work sitting in the DVD case.

Still better than paying for a club membership and not going!

Still better than paying for a club membership and not going!Double amen! Good morning everyone . . . I finally did my first Jillian Michael's work-out, level 2 (there are 3 levels). I should have started at Level 1! For a 20 minute work-out it is tough . . . whew. My goal this week is 3 JM work-outs, 2 walks, and 2 JM ab routines on the walk days. I'd like to stay under 2000 calories each day. Wish me luck!

Any sign of that tropical storm yet?

II - no, it is bright and sunny right now. Yesterday it was cloudy & rainy but no real wind of any type. I've seen much worse thunderstorms. Sometimes I think the grocery stores pay the media to hype storms. That way we run out to stock up on water, etc. Have you got any big fitness goals this week? Or are you in maintenance mode until you can have your surgery?

I'm listening to CNBC and all the economic squawk.
Need to get on some chores . . .

I'm in maintenance mode for fitness and house wise! I just came in from cleaning the gutters, need to go back out and check it all again. Then I still need to finish the back deck. All the monsoon action prevented the completion of that little chore. I have medical appointments this week and next and should get an idea of when this surgery will happen.

Can't believe you guys had that type of rain! Thought that only happened in the sub-tropics and tropics LOL. You probably get alot of exercise just doing your chores. You should wear a pedometer to see how many steps you're getting a day. I used to wear one and it did encourage me to move more. It's fun to rack up the #'s. Sometimes I would go walk around outside just to get all the way to 10,000. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm going to try to find that thing again. I saw the perfect desk for me - it's mounted on a treadmill! I.e., I could not use my computer unless I'm walking. Now THAT'S the way to get my steps in.

Wish you could have the surgery while the weather is still manageable.

Me too... I was using a pedometer when I started taking exercise seriously, a couple summers ago. I think I was getting up to around 14,000 steps, much of it by walking 5 mi a day with the little dog. Then the thing fell off my belt and I ran over it in the grocery store parking lot. I didn't use it on the treadmill because that thing keeps track of everything!

I would guess that a car might wreck a pedometer. I spoke too soon II - it's getting squall-y looking outside. Wow - 14,000 steps per day - NICE!

Weather channel says no rain before next Monday so I can wash the deck today or tomorrow and finish painting Thursday or Friday. Ah, the joys of home ownership!

14,000 miles is 4,000 more than is recommended. You were doing good.
I washed my pedometer in the washing machine. I found the battery and the main unit but I never found the piece that holds the battery in.

Well, I'm sorry to report that this has been a bad week for me with regard to fitness and nutrition. I've just had too much going on to pay attention to it. My weight is up, body fat is up, and muscle content is down. I've gone off and on coffee several times in the last few weeks. This morning I went back to it again. I thank God I never started smoking . . . What a freakin' mess.
